FUWARI Kanazawa Izakaya (風和利金沢市居酒屋) Snow Crab with Roe Winter Special, hiohio.net blog.
Seasonal Special (Snow crab filled with roe). You can't get it any fresher than this!

Just a short walk after Omi-cho Market, FUWARI is restaurant worth a visit.
Sure, you will be tempted to try out all of the beautiful seafood while passing by the market,
but if you can manage to walk pass the seafood temptation you will
find FUWARI to be a treat!

Affordable but really good Kobe Beef in Kobe, Japan: Mouriya Honten (Main Branch)-- Sannomiya.

Mouriya Kobe, eating affordable beef steak (モーリヤ神戸ビーフ).
Years ago, one of our friends mentioned they ate Kobe Beef in Kobe
and it was one of the most amazing meals they've had to-date.
Of course we were sold on the idea---just not the $200 (++) per piece price tag.

Kobe Animal Kingdom Japan visit (Ring Tailed Lemurs).
Their Ring-tailed Lemurs get to run around freely and cuddle!

We enjoy seeing animals on our trips a lot.
While we thought
Ueno Zoo  in Tokyo was full of things to see,
Kobe Animal Kingdom now has a special place in our hearts.

Wa Yamamura:  Affordable Three Michelin Star Meal in Nara (Japan)-- Worth the visit?

4/5/2017

Wa Yamamura Nara Japan (Abalone Soup), 3 Michelin Star dining Kansai.
Soup with Abalone dumpling, White Jews Ears and Japanese Dashi.
Finding an affordable 3 star restaurant is kind of like trying to find the ONE.
Surely it exists, but quite rare.

So when my Fiance's family told me they wanted to eat Kaiseki

(multi-course Japanese meal), I looked into the
following criteria for the ideal restaurant:

1.  It has to be good but didn't cost an arm and a leg.
2.  Family run for a more authentic feel.
3.  English menus.
4.  Easy to get to.

Wa Yamamura fits these and more.

The best thing about eating a meal like this is that you don't even have to pick from the menu,
just how much you want to spend (their introductory Kaiseki starts at 6,000 Yen).

There's suites at Yumesenkei that has fishing access outside of the rooms.
Awaji Island is home to the world's longest suspension bridge.

I suppose most tourist that go to Japan don't typically come here as it seems like a weekend getaway for locals.

Maguro Koya Japan (Restaurant near Kintetsu Nara Station with fresh blue fin tuna).
Oo toro Tekka Don- 2500Y.
On a rainy day, we found ourselves in Nara.

Before showing my Fiance's family around, I decided to take them to Maguro Koya for an early lunch.

Affordable and Fresh Blue Fin Tuna doesn't usually doesn't go hand-in-hand, so I didn't have too much expectations.

Fresh Sashimi Platter
PLAT HOME Kanazawa Kitchen Japan (Fresh Fish Sashimi Platter).
Fresh Sashimi Platter for two- 2400Y. But you can order it for one or for three.
Today, I wanted to share a great visit to PLAT HOME.

To me its like an izakaya with a modern twist.

Not really someplace you'll go to if you've starved for days
because it's all about sharing the small bites (similar to tapas),
drinking, and enjoying company of those around you.

[Note]- This page is highly picture intensive.
Yamazaki Distillery Kyoto Logo Wall.

Let's talk about one of my budding interests today, and that my friends is Whisky
(or Whiskey depending on where you are from).

Yamazaki Distillery is "the distillery" to go to since it's the oldest (and first one built in Japan).

After Yamazaki won the title of World Whisky of the Year Award for their Sherry Cask (2013), demand and interest for Japanese Whisky has suddenly surged.
