In the midst of a tiny local hotel (The New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel), you will find Miyako Restaurant at the end of Waikiki. It's very unassuming. In fact, for many years I didn't know it existed.

 It's getting near dinner-time yet still too early to eat a full meal. What to do? Grab a few of your friends and head down to Doraku Sushi in Honolulu. The atmosphere is casual (with option for indoor or outdoor seating), and an early Happy Hour menu from 4-6p. Or, if you eat late, opt for the late Happy Hour (from 9p-closing; but be warn during late HH, the restaurant is packed!).
 When my friends decided to meet at Bread + Butter for Lunch, I was thrilled since they are a new café opened by the same owners of Shokudo right next door. It occupies the former Angelo Pietro location near Ala Moana. I was most curious to see how their chef combines ingredients using Japanese, Spanish, American, and local cuisine as inspiration.
