- Fresh Bluefin Tuna -
Before showing my Fiance's family around, I decided to take them to Maguro Koya for an early lunch.
Affordable and Fresh Blue Fin Tuna doesn't usually doesn't go hand-in-hand, so I didn't have too much expectations.
There's nothing fancy here at all (just a charming hole-in-the wall kind of place) that makes
you feel like you've gone back in time and into a relative's house (their cash register is a basket).
Run by the sweetest husband and wife team
(ok, I'm not just saying that because they gave us fruits from their persimmon tree).
While their dishes are simple, its comfort food (...comfort fish) at its finest.
They specialize in tuna.
My mouth is watering thinking about their fresh and melt-in-your-mouth Chu-toro.
which seemed to have filled almost half of the restaurant instantly.
Fresh tuna and great hospitality (it helps they speak some English and there's English Menus).
I highly recommend Maguro Koya if you want a cozy and homey meal off the usual tourist path.
Sometimes, its places like these that offer experiences you remember for a long time.
We'll definitely be back!
One thing to note though-- they only have squat toliet. ;)
