[Update- 7.31.16] -- Please see my newer post for the current menu pricing.
Yakiniku Yoshi Honolulu- Logo
To celebrate my birthday, my Fiance took me to Yakiniku Yoshi's to try out their A4 & A5 Wagyu beef set for 2 that is imported straight from Japan.   After all, his friend who is a foodie raved about it so it must be good right?
We had a 5p reservation and were the first to arrive at 4:30p.  They did not open until the clock turned 5p.

The service was really attentive.  We were waited on by multiple servers that were super friendly and upbeat.   I appreciate that they explained all of the dishes and the best pairing of sauces every time it was brought out.  One even showed us how to properly make sure to not over cook our meat.  Too bad they don't wear name tags, but they were all equally wonderful.

The interior of the restaurant is kind of simple but clean and comfortable. The tables have lots of room for 2!

A5 Wagyu Beef. You can't really tell from the picture but it's actually pre-cut into smaller pieces for convenience. This piece of meat really made the visit. It was literally melting in our mouth.

[PRO]
  • Wonderful service by multiple servers (based on 2 visits over span of 2 weeks).
  • Awesome food and quality.
  • Pricing is very fair ( the A 4 & A 5 set for 2 is $170).
  • They offer happy hour sets for $32 per person daily (see below).
  • Assorted drink discounts available throughout the week.
  • For a Yakiniku restaurant, the ventilation is amazing!
  • Free parking in front of the restaurant.
  • Their Beer is chilled really cold (my Fiance said he could taste the ice crystals at first).

[CONS]
  • The parking lot is a bit small.
  • The restaurant is only open for dinner.
  • They don't sell Kirin Beer (but they do have Asahi).
  • Reservations really recommended!

Overall I highly recommend checking Yakiniku Yoshi out.  While the set for two doesn't look like a lot of food, the meat was actually really filling.   The Happy Hour set Menu is a lot of food as well.

Update [11.22.2015]

[Happy Hour Menu]

We enjoyed our first visit to Yakiniku Yoshi so much that we decided to revisit it two weeks later.

We visited with our friend so we each ordered the Yoshi (Happy) Hour set (limited to one per person) as-is (without substitutions) and 2 orders of the Crispy Pork Belly.  We also brought in our own bottle of wine and corkage was just $1 per person (they were really good on about serving and refilling it for us too).

An actual cotton towel inside the package (it's served to all customers but I had forgotten to snap a picture of it before).
Yakiniku Yoshi Honolulu, Pork Loin and Pork Belly (Happy Hour; this was 3 orders worth since we had 3 people).
Pork Loin & Pork Belly (3 orders for 3 people). Sorry the Kimchee sides were already half devoured by this point...

Cooked Pork Loin (I think). Already seasoned and the Happy Hour set comes with a bowl of rice.

Pork belly and Pork Loin in marinated Tare Sauce. The pork really soaked up the flavor of the sweet soy sauce, so you don't even need additional seasoning.

Yakiniku Yoshi Honolulu, Crispy Pork belly (not happy hour).
Ala- Carte (not Happy Hour): Crispy Pork Belly (served with a spicy and sweet sauce). Really excellent. (The top left corner shows the sauce combination served with your meal regardless of what you order).
Even though we got the Happy Hour special with side of Crispy Pork belly this time around, we had a great time once again and didn't feel like we skimped by not ordering the Wagyu set.

The meat that comes with the Happy Hour set is plentiful and service was spectacular like last time even though they got busy.  We chanced a walk-in right as they open this time.  But we found out that they were already all booked so we got lucky to get a table without wait.   Yakiniku Yoshi is so easy to love and the Happy Hour special is such a deal.   We will be back again soon no doubt!

BYOB at Yakiniku Yoshi Honolulu.
We brought in our own wine (BYOB on Sundays and Mondays) with corkage at just $1 per person. The restaurant does have a wine list (see menu below, but choices are a bit limited. However, their prices are reasonable).
