Planet Hollywood Las Vegas (Hip Room Review).

Our stay was a COMP (free) from playing slots at Caesar's Entertainment (CET) properties from past Las Vegas visit.
I had us booked for 5 nights (by accident), but the front desk agent was able to change it to 4 nights-- quick and hassle-free.

We had a strip-view room on the 23rd floor (top floor on the South Tower Elevators; though there might be a few more VIP floors above that in a secret elevator somewhere else?).

You could see the Bellagio fountain from the window if you tilt your head a bit. I just did a close up of the window covering (what I presume to be Britney's ad). It's not as bad as the photo looks. Though next time we would know to ask for a room without the covering.

On day 2,
Housekeeping left me a present:

These were water stains caused by my messiness on the night table (from night 1). It was still there at check-out.
[PROS]:
  • Hotel is connected to Miracle Miles Shops.
Good for shoppers (plenty of mid-range stores with a few high-end).  Easy to pick up inexpensive drinks and sundries from ABC or CVS.
  • There's a food court and affordable dining options throughout.
  • Room service menu is affordable and not ridiculous.
    • You can order from P.F. Changs.
  • Room is pretty clean for the most part.
  • Roomy for a "standard" room.
  • Friendly front desk agents.
  • They have multi-language channels on TV.  I didn't go through all of them but these stuck out to me:
    • A  whole bunch of Mainland Chinese/ Hong Kong TV channels + Japanese NHK news (no subtitles).
  • Free coffee + coffee maker in-room.
  • Carpet under the bed is visually clean of dust.  But I'm not going to volunteer my bare feet to test it out.
[CONS]:
  • Wi-Fi didn't work on the 2nd + consecutive days.  When I asked the FDA at check-out, they said they haven't heard anyone mentioned this (we over-heard a guest complaining about it while waiting to Check-in).
  • HIP rooms only have one window.  Very dark.
  • Flush mechanism on toilet is super low.  I'm very short yet it bothers me so it might be annoyance for taller people.
  • Weak water pressure in the shower.
  • SUPER LONG check-in line at 4pm.
  • Bed mattress is starting to sink.
  • Maybe it's just me, but I thought the pillows were lumpy (same at Paris Hotel too).
  • The entry light looks like it needs a bulb change, but not a deal breaker.
  • No refrigerator or mini-bar.
  • Our TV  would sometimes stutter.
  • Not too many electronic outlets (there's one available on the lamp of each night table) + on the side walls.
[NOTE]:
  • Each room has a different "theme."
  • Casino is lively, but perhaps some may find it too loud (like me).
  • No security (key card) checks at the room elevator area.
  • I dislike that all the lights are manual (but I'm just spoiled with rooms where you insert the key cards and it automatically turns on/off everything). Would have been nice to have some master light switches near the entry but I'm not Anthony from "Hotel Impossible" so what do I know?
  • Long walks if you are walking through Miracle Miles Shops to get to your room.
  • Sound-proofing isn't the best.  It was fine for the most part, but I was able to hear when the neighbor coughed, or turned on/off their water.  Once in a while, I could also hear music from the pool below, or people walking in the hallways.

Overall, we had a good stay at Planet Hollywood and I would stay here again despite some of the drawbacks.  PH is a good mid-range hotel with great location (heart of the LV strip, and right across from the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas--connected by overhead pedestrian bridge).

Although, I might pick a different room next time like the new(er) remodeled ULTRA HIP room; the standard HIP rooms are pretty spacious and offer great value.

[TIP]--
If you use ride-share (Uber/ Lyft), the pick-up area is at the Tour Bus section down towards left of Bell-desk (a few mins walk).
