Afternoon Tea at Orchids, Halekulani (Oahu)

[Note]-- I re-visited Orchids most recently (April 2017).  Please see that post for update-- thanks!

Afternoon Tea at Orchids Halekulani, Honolulu, Oahu (Sandwiches and sweets).
Fresh pastries and sandwiches. It's really as yummy as it looks! Their Double Devonshire Cream and Kula Strawberry Preserve is an excellent compliment to their fresh scones.

Fresh Strawberry and Cream.
Afternoon Tea at Orchids Halekulani, Honolulu, Oahu (tea chest description).
Loose tea menu presented in a wooden chest. I chose the Jade Oolong while my friends had their two most popular teas: Pineapple Coconut infused with Mango and Blueberry Rooibos.

Close-up of a few of the loose teas. The teas are poured into a tea bag then brewed individually for you.
[PRO]
  • Lovely and breezy view beachside and of Diamond Head.
  • Free valet parking with validation (excludes tips).
  • Really attentive and super friendly service by multiple staff (though the restaurant was pretty empty when Tea service started).
  • Delectable and inventive desserts with savory sandwiches.   Their menu is pretty filling (from a female perspective) compared to other afternoon teas on the island.  Everything tasted great, so it's hard to pick a favorite item.  However, I wouldn't mind eating a full-size sandwich of their Smoked Salmon (on Rye bread).

[CONS]
  • Non.  But if you opt for the full package with the Celebratory set with cake & champagne, it is one of the pricier afternoon tea sets on Oahu.

Highly Recommended!

Though I'm a bit torn between afternoon tea here and at the Moana Surfrider which I really like as well.

The food alone is worth the visit.  But paired with the beautiful ambiance and good service, I think Orchid's has a slight edge overlooking Diamond Head.   What a nice and relaxing afternoon indulging on sweets and catching up with friends.

Assorted cakes and pastries. Stunning presentation!
Orchids Halekulani multi-layer cake.
Multi-layered cake-- it was light and fluffy and beautifully presented.
Orchids Halekulani restaurant view (from outside).
Lovely view of Diamond Head and the Pacific Ocean (view is from sitting outside). It's a very relaxing atmosphere.

Orchids Halekulani Honolulu, Oahu (Cream puff dessert).
I believe this was a cream puff infused with Bailey's Irish Cream (that you squeeze yourself). Very fun and tasty!
Orchids Halekulani Honolulu (Interior of the restaurant).
The open layout of the restaurant gives it a very comfortable inside and outside feel.

The Celebratory Tea set comes with a slice of cake (perfect for birthdays and other special events).

Can't finish your afternoon treats? Not to worry, they will pack it up nicely for you.
