Veranda Afternoon Tea @ Moana Surfrider (Oahu)

Free dessert for my birthday. Why thank you Veranda! It's similar to a chocolate molten lava cake (ok, that may not be the name). But it's so good!
My friends surprised me with a Afternoon Tea for a belated birthday celebration at the Veranda.   In terms of history, the Moana Surfrider is famed to be the original hotel in Waikiki since it's opening in 1901.   What better way to enjoy an afternoon munching on small sandwiches, scones, sweets, tea and sparkling wine than at this historic hotel?

This was our view (ok, it's not amazing by any extent), but if you are lucky there's tables that are right next to the beach view.

We loved that we could smell all of the tea selections before deciding on the "one."

Thanks to Melaine Y. for this picture.

We each picked the "First Lady Tea" ($48) experience which comes with a glass of dry rose wine.

Assortment of finger sandwiches. Very good!
I highly recommend the Afternoon Tea at the Moana Surfrider.  Service was impeccable.
We all enjoyed the full experience and felt like we were transported back in time while sitting near the original banyan tree from 1904.   My friends and I all agreed that this Afternoon Tea is better than
the Afternoon Tea at the Kahala Hotel which ironically also goes by the same name.

Value-wise, it seems you get a lot more at the Moana Surfrider.

Vanilla Ice Cream.

Palate Cleanser (I think it's a Yuzu sorbet?)-- This was so good and refreshing. I would go back just for this!

Creme Fraiche with brown sugar and fresh fruits-- Delicious!

Afternoon Tea hours:  Noon- 3pm.  |     Tea Sets run from $34.
You can preview their menu before arriving.
Reservations are recommended since it seems to fill up fast.

But it's easy since you can make it online.   If there's anything to point out, its that the weather sometimes
can be very humid on the Veranda (like the day we were there).  But hey that's really nitpicking as everything else was perfect.   Our server was so attentive-- perhaps it's because he thought my friends were cute and they were giving us more attention haha)!   ;)

A "sandalwood" memorabilia fan that comes with the "First Lady Tea" set. Yes, it's Made in China, but it's the thought that counts right?
