Cajun King Oahu (Aiea)- Black Bean Lobster | hiohio.net
Black Bean Lobster- $17 (also available in Salt + Pepper or Ginger + Green Onion). Pretty good but best paired with rice to soak up the sauce.
We've been coming to Cajun King ever since it first opened a few years ago in 2013.

Initially, we were drawn in by their inexpensive Lobster Lunch special (for $12.99, you get a 1/2 lobster with steak, shrimp, or pork chops with white or fried rice).
It seemed like a contradiction.  Seafood at affordable prices?
We had to try!
Since that first visit, call us hooked!

Located in the Waimalu Shopping Center in Aiea (near Pealridge Shopping Center), the surrounding looks ordinary but the food is worth the trip.

Cajun King Oahu (Cajun Chicken Wings) | hiohio.net
Cajun Chicken Wings- $9. One of the best I've had anywhere. Great seasoning with crispy skin, but moist meat on the inside. Ask for it with Cajun Fries.
Cajun King Oahu (Aiea)- Fried Oyster | hiohio.net
Fried Oyster with Cajun Fries- $14 (half dozen; $28 for the dozen). Tasty and pretty good-sized.

The essential tools you will need (all provided by the restaurant).

Prepare to dig in by putting on your bib and gloves. Pull up your sleeves and prepare to feast! Some of the food may get on your clothes but the mess is so worth it. Rest assure, they will give you hand wipes at the end.

It's somewhat of an messy visit, but the yummy taste is worth the sacrifice.

Plus, everyone else is doing it, just don't wear your Sunday best.

Cajun King Oahu (Combo #3 with King Crab). | hiohio.net
Combo #3- $55. Feeds 2-3 people. King Crab, Crawfish, Shrimp, Mussels, corn and Potatoes drench in amazing Cajun Garlic butter sauce! Delicious! (Yes, there's some work involved to pry out the meat, but you won't regret it). There's also combos with Dungeness Crab ($55), Lobster, or Snow Crab (both $48 each) with your choice of sauce.
Black Bean Clams (Cajun King Oahu) | hiohio.net
Black Bean Clams- $16. Although it has the same sauce as the Black Bean Lobster, it tasted undercooked so it had a fishy taste I didn't care for.
Cajun King Oahu (Aiea)- Salt & Pepper Shrimp | hiohio.net
Salt + Pepper Shrimp- $13. This really tasted like Garlic Shrimp instead since it was piled with it. If you want it extra crispy, you can ask them to make it the way they do it for Lunch.
[PROS]
  • Yummy food.
  • Straightforward menu.
  • Servers are generally really friendly.
  • Made-to-order seafood in 3 steps
    • (1- Pick item, 2- Choose seasoning, 3- Pick level of spiciness).
  • Affordable price for fresh Lobster and Seafood.
  • Amazing deal for Lunch Combos.
  • Free Soda refills.
  • Inexpensive Beer ($3-5) + Wine ($6 a glass).
  • Plentiful free parking.
  • Fun and casual setting for friends, families and small groups.
  • Can accommodate private groups up to 100+ people (we asked the Manager once about the possibility for hosting larger parties).   They seem flexible in adjusting menus for large groups.

[CONS]
  • Slower service when the restaurant is packed during dinner.
  • The food is on the salty side.  You might want to pair dishes that has sauce with rice.
  • On this visit, they gave us the wrong order (1st time in many visits).  We ordered Salt + Pepper Lobster but got Black Bean Lobster;  the server noticed it afterwards and offered to make us the correct one, but we just kept it since we happen to eat Black Bean too).
  • I didn't love their Ginger + Green Onion Dungeness Crab on a prior visit.  It was ok, but I was underwhelmed as it tasted Americanized (I guess it makes sense since it's their interpretation .  I was expecting the traditional Chinese version with lots of Ginger + Onion which wasn't really noticeable, but the texture of crab was really nice).   I know, I'm being nit-picky here since I use to make it often myself.  But you may love it).
  • Sometimes, they may run out of certain menu items.

[NOTE]
  • A lot of their seafood uses tons of garlic.   May not be suitable for those who dislike it.
  • Certain items (Abalone, Clams, Oysters and etc. may also be subjected to availability).

[MUST TRY]
  • Cajun Chicken.
  • Salt + Pepper Shrimp.
  • Lobster!
Overall, Cajun king has really great food with a fun factor.
Highly recommended!
If you can't make it down to dine-in (or want to lick your fingers in the comfort of your own home),
they offer take-out too.
